Thierry Francou is General Manager Strategy and Transformation -and CEO France- of Ariane Group, a world leader in access to space. He is particularly in charge to lead and accelerate the Group transformation plan through digitalization, agility, process simplification and lean mindset.
He was appointed to this position at the creation of this joint venture between Airbus and Safran in 2015, and he led the integration project of the defense and space activities contributed by these both companies.
Thierry has started his career in 1994 as Armament Corps Engineer for the French Ministry of Defense (DIrection Générale de l’Armement). He occupied various roles in the Submarine-launched Balistic Missiles M51 programmes and naval systems. In 2006 when he joined the Minister of Ecology Cabinet as Advisor to Minister for the industrial and natural risks before joining the French Embassy in Italy as Armament and Space advisor.
Thierry joined in 2010, Herakles, a Safran Group company specialized in solid propulsion, as Vice President in charge of the Space Business Unit.
Thierry is married, 50 years old and is a graduate of Ensta BRETAGNE engineering school and has a PhD in aerodynamics from Poitiers University France.
