General practisioner, specialist in medical biology with a master in biomedical and motion physiology in College de France, Brigitte Godard started in MEDES, the Institute of medicine and space physiology in 2005. At that time, she started the space activities by taking care of 24 healthy young female volunteers who stayed 60 days in bed (so called long term bed rest study, one of the very well knowed simulated microgravity model). From that time until 2008, Brigitte Godard was involved in differents clinical research projects in MEDES as well as telemedicine project. In 2008 MEDES is involved in the preparation of the ESA astronaut selection and she coordinated the psychological phase in Cologne on the 192 candidates selected at this phase. In 2010, she integrated as MEDES the ESA team and became flight surgeon at the European Astronaut Center in Cologne until 2017. She took care of 5 astronautes among them, she was the flight surgeon of 3 new european astonauts, Luca Parmitano, Samantha Cristoforetti and Thomas Pesquet.
In 2018 she decided to come back to MEDES / Toulouse to do again clinical research and among all dry immersion study, another mean to simulate gravity on the ground.
