Lionel Suchet graduated from “Ecole Polytechnique” Paris (X84) and “Sup’Aero”
Toulouse. He is General in French Armament Corps.
He was deeply involved in Manned Space Flights from the very beginning of his career at CNES (1989) and was Project Manager for five manned missions performed onboard MIR and ISS.
He became in 2004 responsible for all scientific missions and then, in 2008, Assistant Director in charge of all orbital CNES space projects.
From 2011 to 2015, he was Deputy Director of Toulouse Space Centre.
From 2016 to 2017, he is Director for Innovation, Applications and Science. The purpose of this new Directorate is to prepare the future for French orbital systems and space data utilization, leaning on creativity and innovation.
From 28 August 2017, he is CNES Chief Operating Officer.
